Making a library card
When you borrow a book for the first time, please make a library card.
- You can make a library card, no matter where you live and how old you are.
- When you want to make a library card, please bring something with your name and your address written on it (for example, your health insurance card, New Year’s card or a letter you received, etc.). And please show it to us.
- You can use your library card for 3 years. After 3 years, please show us something with your name and address, again.
- You can use your library card at all the libraries of Meguro City.
Borrowing
Please bring the items you want to borrow and your library card to the checkout desk.
- What can I borrow from the library?
You can borrow Books, Magazines, Picture-card show (kamishibai), CDs, Comic book sets, etc.
- How many items and how long can I borrow?
You can borrow 20 items in all, for 2 weeks
Returning
Please bring the items you borrowed to the checkout desk.
- You can return the items you borrowed to any library of Meguro City.
- When the library is closed, please put the items in the book post box. You can’t put your library card, picture-card show, CDs and comic book sets into the book post box.
- Please return the items you borrowed by the due date. If you can’t, please call the library by the due date. If no one else wants to borrow them, you can extend the date to return them.
Looking for a book
You can look for a book by “Sanma-kun”, the library’s searching machine. You can also use your computer at home and look for a book on the internet. Basic Search of Catalogue!
- If the book you want to read is already checked out, you can reserve it.
- If you register your password, you can make the reservation on “Sanma-kun” or Library web site.
- If you have any question, let’s ask the library staff.
Story-times
Every month, we have story-times. Please come and join us.
- We read picture books or perform picture-card shows and puppet shows. We have craft classes, too.
- Each library has different schedule for the story-times. Please check the library calendar or ask the library staff.
Rules of our libraries
- Every one shares the books of the libraries. Please handle them with care.
- Please return the book you read to the place it was before.
- Please don’t talk loud or run around in the libraries. You can’t drink or eat in the libraries, either.
Days our libraries are closed
- Our libraries are closed on every Monday(Yakumo Chuo Library and Ohashi Library:First Monday) and during the Year-end and New Year holidays (from December 29th to January 4th).
- We close the libraries when we need to check our books, too. Please check the library calendar or ask the library staff.
